Here is the guy that started it all for the Springer's, My Grandad Fred Springer. That is a 1913 Henderson he is on missing the tank. Grampa was packing his little brother! He passed his passion to my Dad, Jack Springer and then Dad onto me! Now I've passed on to Danno and he is racing in the Baja 1000 at age 19.

We have been doing all kinds of things to get ready. It feels like it's very close now! The bike have been getting dirty and we've enjoyed as much riding as we can put together.

We have spent time riding and tweaking on the bikes and added several people to the team.

The 5Th rider is Dean Selph a solid very experienced rider. He rides at night almost weekly and this is a big plus for the team. We are very happy to have him on board. He owns a Fencing Company in Arlington, WA called West Coast Fence Co. They do great work and if you need a fence he's your man!

We have also received a commitment for Ace Nilson out of Bend, Oregon. He will be an alternate rider standing by if one of the others is hurt or unable to race for some reason. Ace has enter many races and spends time with his son Robby, riding and racing as much as possible.Thanks Ace, glad to have you.

We have also added Jeff Meehan as one of our Chase truck Drivers and support crew. Jeff is coming all the way form Alaska for this and we are very thankful to have him with us.

We have secured an awesome house in La Bufadora for the entire 22 day trip. It is perfect for what we need, lots of room has a huge garage and is location very near a great friend of mine who lives there! There is room for more so if you want to come down let us know and we'll set you up with a great place to stay for a few days!

The owner of this beautiful place has been helping kids get educations and off the streets for a long time. Take a look at their organization. It's called "Reality Changers". We have completed the new logo and are ordering T-shirts and heavy 12oz hoodie sweat shirts. This in a effort to generate needed funds to get us all to Baja and compete in the race.
Shirts will in black and athletic grey with shorts sleeves and black long sleeves with the logo on the front anc back. Very cool!!!
The first order will be 100 and we'll make the next order as soon as possible, maybe some different colors.
The hoodies will be a special order basis. These are very top quality and extra heavy weight!

A Gift

Last week I posted a request for donations on the ADVrider web site! I asked for a $2.00 donation. It was promptly taken down and the moderator explained that this was not something that I could go forward with on the site. I understand their position and appreciated the kind words from the moderator. Now this was only on the site for maybe 20 minutes. I guess it was up long enough for several people to see it and promptly send donations of almost $450.00 USD into our paypal account.
To those of you my utmost respect goes out to you for your generosity and support. Without you and hopefully others to come this would be very hard to accomplish at this time in history!
We are committed to make this happen even if it on a shoestring.
All of us on this team are just normal working guys who want to say before we die that we rode in the longest point to point non stop off road race in the world. We did it with the help of others! It happened because of the goodness in our fellow man.
It is very hard to explain how one feels when someone you don't even know deposits money into your account to help you follow a dream! It is amazing and is testament to the kind of people involved in motorcycles. They have a gusto for living and promote others of the dame cloth! They give to children and help women who have no place to go.
It just makes me feel awesome to see this support and friendship! Thank you!

Training day #6

We got together to train this past weekend. Had some great guys come join us and managed to cover some good mileage.

The weather was perfect, slightly cool and some showers to keep the dust down.

Russ and Mark came over for day number two. I got see first hand how talented a rider Russ is and his good friend Mark as well. Mark plans to run the Race this year as well. Just one major difference. He is going to run it solo..IRONMAN.... this is amazing and not many have accomplished this. I am looking forward to riding with both of them during the next five months before we head to Baja.

Found some great vantage spots on this ride. Still managed to get into the snow. We've had so much this winter here in the Northwest this year.

Here is Danno having some fun, he is improving each day out and finding his limits and then pushing pass them.

We also found a weak point on the bikes this weekend. The clutch cover is very thin and the brake pedal can and will go right through it if smashed onto rock while an unscheduled dismount occurs. Danno tested this out for us and found that pushing your bike home is not near as much fun as riding it!
We'll come up with a good fix for this and find or make some good protection for this cover.
Both days upon returning form our days ride my Mom had an awesome home made meal prepare for us and also home made rhubarb pie!
There is a local company called Sound Rider. The owner has been very supportive of our quest for Baja and provided for us several types of products they sell to help with hydration and some outstanding cooling gear for us to use and test.
The under shirts wicked all the moisture away from our skin leaving us dry and comfortable at the then end of each day.
He also gave us electrolyte drops to add to our camel backs! I was amazed at how much less water I drank and how well my body held up under this scenario!

Join our team as the 5th rider and travel to Baja with us in November 2008. Be a part of the 41st running of the famous Score Tecate Baja 1000.

You will need to purchase our 4th race bike and have the capital needed to handle your portion of the overall expenses. You will need the time required to train with us pre race and the entire month of November availible to be in Baja for pre-riding!

Marc Springer
Hell bent for Baja and bringing a whopping 50 years of life experience! My friends call me "Springer" and I work for Harley Davidson of Seattle in Lynnwood, WA.I've been riding motorcycles since I was just a kid. The lure of the Baja 1000 has echoed in my mind ever since I heard my childhood heroes were racing it; Steve McQueen, Malcolm Smith, and the likes. Well it's my turn now and I am stoked to be part of the 2008 Baja 1000!!!

In November 2007, I traveled to Baja from Seattle on my BMW R1150GS with my son. I was floored by the beauty of Baja and also witnessed the running of the 40th Anniversary of the Baja 1000! What a rush! I was hooked right then and there - Baja captivated me! There's magic in Baja that you have to experience first hand in order to understand. The opportunity to compete in the longest point-to-point, non-stop race on the planet at this stage in my life is…it's just beyond words.I hope you'll follow our amazing adventure and enjoy the ride as much as we do! Hi, my name is Dean Agee. My friends call me “Deano.” Influenced by my family, I learned to love riding dirt bikes at an early age and eventually turned my passion into my career and never looked back. I’m a factory-trained mechanic and I’ve worked on everything with two wheels and an engine that you could imagine…and I love every minute of it!

One rainy, winter day in Seattle, Springer walked up to me (we work together) and said, “Hey, how’d you like to race the Baja 1000 this November?” I couldn’t believe what I was hearing and I knew right away that I had to be a part of this incredible opportunity. Since then, my family has definitely felt the excitement around the house as I begin this amazing journey. We’ve watched “Dust to Glory” countless times! My son is hugely excited watching me prepare for this amazing adventure! I look forward to using my mechanical skills to get our bikes in tip-top shape and ready for this absolutely grueling contest between man, machine, and Mother Nature!

My name is Daniel Jerrett…I'm better known as "Danno." I just graduated Kamiak High School in Mukilteo, Washington…Class of 2007! Yep, that makes me 19!

As a reward upon graduating, my step Dad ("Springer") planned a motorcycle trip up to Alaska and all through Canada. However, I managed to break some bones in my foot a couple weeks before we were supposed to leave! As it turns out, by the time I had healed it was too cold to head north so guess which direction we pointed our bikes…yep, south - toward Baja! Upon crossing the border and riding all over Baja, the amazing beauty of the place and people really changed my life! And, my trip to Baja just so happened to coincide with the 40th Score Baja 1000! Imagine?!

I started riding motorcycles when I was about 12 and I've also played completive ice hockey on "Select Teams" from the age of 5 through 18; so I learned the value of contributing to a strong, positive team attitude at a very early age. As a result, I was elected Team Captain for the last year of my hockey career! Very cool!

Nothing can compete with the power of a positive, team-oriented attitude! Through my various life experiences I've come to realize that my true passion resides with motorcycles. My recent Baja experience and watching the race take place right before my eyes caused me to immediately set my sights on participating in this amazing contest of man, machine, and Mother Nature…and now here I am!

I feel very fortunate at my age to be part of this team. I know what a huge opportunity this is and that this team will be successful. I look forward to all the hard work that lies ahead and crossing that finish line in November!

4th rider joins team

We are very pleased to announce our 4th rider! Russ Mosher has made his commitment to ride Baja with us!
He has outstanding skills to contribute to the team. Russ is known as PacWestGS on the ADVrider web site.
Russ has a very broad background and brings strong leadership and outstanding riding skills to our team!
I can't think of a better guy to have on board and look forward to his input and knowledge.

I plan to get our BIO's up soon so you will be able to know a bit more about each of us!

We are not done with the selection of this teams members. We still need support people, chase truck teams. Pre-ride buddies, back up riders and possibly a 5th rider for the race, the plan is to start working on this part next.
Our pits selection has yet to be determined but there are some great options available so I know we'll have that handled soon.

Hope to get out on Monday for some training on the western side of the Cascades!

We had a great two days of riding last week on the eastern slopes of the Cascade range.
